This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
⢠Evaluate clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract necessary data and assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS codes.
⢠Code surgical, General Surgery, and Trauma Surgery records as assigned.
⢠Assign codes to conditions and procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, CMS/MAC regulations, CPT standards, and other mandated coding requirements.
⢠Assess payer coding-related denials and provide suitable claim-resolution recommendations.
⢠Ensure all recorded services are coded correctly and obtain necessary documentation when required.
⢠Achieve and maintain a coding accuracy and productivity rate of 95%.
⢠Review the queue daily and communicate necessary corrections and re-bill instructions to facilities.
⢠Code or pend each chart in the queue within a 24-hour timeframe.
⢠Respond to physician and hospital coding or billing inquiries within eight hours.
⢠Collaborate with IQC personnel and facility coding and billing teams to meet quality, efficiency, and reimbursement objectives.
⢠Report coding discrepancies and issues to supervisors.
⢠Check the Guidehouse email system at least every two hours during coding sessions.
⢠Maintain HIPAA-compliant workstations and adhere to coding division policies and procedures.
⢠High School Diploma or equivalent.
⢠Over 5 years of experience in medical coding.
⢠More than 3 years of experience in vascular surgery coding, including inpatient and outpatient coding for physician claims.
⢠CPC certification from AAPC.
⢠Experience with EMR systems.
⢠Must keep current professional credentials throughout employment.
⢠Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
⢠Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and clients.
⢠Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
⢠Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
⢠High level of accuracy in work.
⢠Comprehensive knowledge and experience with federal and state coding regulations and guidelines.
⢠CCVT and/or CIRCC credential from AAPC is preferred.
⢠Experience with various EMR and/or practice management systems is preferred.
