This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the comprehensive design process for Riverside's Reach platform and the upcoming generation of portfolio assessments, such as CogAT and Iowa Assessments.
• Establish the UX framework, interaction patterns, and design system for a new 0-to-1 product.
• Define user personas, journey maps, information architecture, and navigation models.
• Conduct user research and discovery sessions with students, educators, administrators, and internal stakeholders.
• Convert research insights into user flows, task flows, and interaction models.
• Create wireframes and interactive prototypes for testing with users and stakeholders.
• Transform assessment data into actionable score reports, dashboards, and configuration screens.
• Design onboarding experiences and in-product guidance for educators and administrators.
• Establish and monitor UX success metrics, such as task completion rates and usability scores.
• Develop and maintain a scalable design system and component library.
• Oversee high-fidelity visual design across the entire product.
• Create accessible, responsive interfaces in compliance with WCAG standards.
• Design print and PDF layouts for reports and assessment materials.
• Collaborate with Engineering on design specifications, developer handoff, and design quality assurance.
• Report to the Product Director while working closely with Engineering, Product Management, Psychometrics, and Content teams.
• Support, iterate, and enhance the Reach design system and UX post-launch as new assessments and features are introduced.
• 4-7 years of experience in product, UX, or UI design, demonstrating substantial expertise in both user experience and visual/interaction design.
• Proven track record as a founding or lead designer on a 0-to-1 or greenfield project, establishing UX frameworks, interaction patterns, and design systems from the ground up.
• Strong foundation in UX research methodologies, including interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
• Ability to convert research findings into personas, journey maps, and actionable specifications.
• Experience in building and maintaining a design system or component library from scratch.
• Proficiency in Figma or similar tools for creating flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
• Experience designing for multi-role, multi-stakeholder platforms and complex, data-heavy interfaces.
• Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and principles of responsive design.
• Comfort in navigating a high degree of ambiguity and a limited existing structure.
• Preferred: experience in K-12 education, assessments, or clinical/behavioral health products.
• Preferred: familiarity with AI-assisted design or product workflows.
• Preferred: knowledge of HTML/CSS or React/Next.js.
• Preferred: experience mentoring designers or establishing design standards across multiple product teams.
