This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
• Conduct growth research studies that support the experiment pipeline and address tactical questions for the growth team.
• Take ownership of the entire study lifecycle: from scoping and recruiting to conducting, analyzing, and communicating results.
• Create studies and instruments aimed at evaluating and diagnosing adoption experiences.
• Perform both moderated and unmoderated usability tests, interviews, mixed-methods research, longitudinal studies, surveys, and gather feedback through forms.
• Analyze behavioral data from logs to inform research, validate hypotheses, and triangulate findings with experimental and unmoderated test data.
• Review community forums and feedback forms to discover research opportunities.
• Identify user needs during the trial, proof-of-concept, and adoption stages.
• Model and map adoption behaviors and define user personas.
• Move towards independently identifying research opportunities and managing a growth research program.
• Collaborate with the Growth PM and Growth Designers to convert hypotheses into study designs and actionable insights.
• Assist in testing and validating designs while identifying product-adoption friction points.
• Propose experiments and design concepts based on research insights.
• Work in tandem with the growth team's experiment cadence and A/B testing processes.
• Maintain regular communication regarding ongoing work and involve growth partners in the research process.
• Develop a deep understanding of how users discover, try, and adopt Tailscale.
• Extend research into pricing, packaging, billing, and SKU-related inquiries.
• Collaborate with fellow researchers on related research questions.
• Report directly to the design manager.
• 5+ years of experience in UX research or a related applied research field.
• Strong quantitative research abilities, including survey design, experimental methods, and statistical analysis.
• Solid skills in usability testing across both moderated and unmoderated approaches.
• Proficiency in using one or more usability testing platforms.
• Expertise in quantitative data analysis, experimental design, survey methodology, and inferential statistics.
• Experience in independently managing study logistics, including recruitment, scheduling, and compensation.
• Excellent communication skills tailored for product and engineering audiences.
• Background in a SaaS or B2B product environment.
• Knowledge in human factors, behavioral psychology, or HCI.
• Proven experience running end-to-end studies to address UX challenges.
• Ability to manage quick research projects while applying rigorous methods when necessary.
• Experience specifically in growth or acquisition research.
• Advanced expertise in quantitative data analysis for user research.
• Familiarity with enterprise SaaS or technical product domains.
• Knowledge of A/B testing frameworks and research that supports experimentation programs.
