This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Oversee and evaluate month-end closing processes, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Guarantee accuracy, quality of documentation, and readiness of audit workpapers.
• Implement GAAP in increasingly complex accounting scenarios.
• Investigate and resolve technical accounting challenges; document findings and conclusions.
• Uphold internal controls, workflows, and checklists.
• Educate, mentor, and supervise accounting personnel.
• Assign tasks and oversee timelines, quality, and utilization.
• Offer structured performance evaluations and development plans.
• Assist with onboarding and act as a technical advisor to the team.
• Engage in client meetings; present financial results and insights.
• Manage expectations and communicate proactively regarding deadlines and issues.
• Convert financial data into actionable business recommendations.
• Enhance client relationships and facilitate year-round communication.
• Coordinate workflow, schedules, and deadlines across multiple engagements.
• Streamline processes, templates, and automation within accounting systems.
• Ensure team productivity and the efficient delivery of services.
• Identify risks, report variances, and suggest corrective actions.
• Develop budgets, monitor cash flow, and create forecasts as assigned.
• Discover opportunities to enhance client finance operations.
• Assist in special projects, including system migrations, audits, and cleanup initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in US Accounting.
• More than 3 years in US Accounting Manager or Director roles.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP with the ability to interpret and apply standards.
• Practical experience in reviewing monthly closures and financial statements.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel/Google Sheets; fluency in cloud accounting (QBO/Xero).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a disciplined approach to documentation.
• Availability to work during US business hours.
• CPA or CMA certification (or equivalent senior-level experience).
• Experience in construction, nonprofit, government contracting, or project accounting.
• Proven experience in leading distributed teams.
• Monthly salary in USD based on experience.
