This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Executing deployments lasting up to two consecutive months at Navy bases and various locations globally.
• Collaborating with Navy, Coast Guard, and other personnel to relay critical information to the San Diego team.
• Launching and recovering Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs).
• Remotely overseeing and controlling USVs via computer or mobile device during missions.
• Communicating bugs and feature requests to the San Diego development team to enhance operational efficiency.
• Utilizing electronic devices and maps for mission planning, while considering weather and other factors.
• Traveling frequently to San Diego to familiarize with new vehicle features and maintenance/operations protocols.
• Meeting contracting obligations, including daily status updates through Slack, email, or Signal.
• Participating in occasional nighttime operations.
• Responsible and possesses a good sense of humor.
• Comfortable working in high-pressure environments, teaching others, and responding quickly and decisively to new information.
• An effective communicator, both written and verbal, across various settings.
• Capable of working collaboratively, following directions, or operating independently as circumstances require.
• Enthusiastic about traveling to new regions of the world for extended durations.
• A quick learner who is also a patient troubleshooter.
• Proficient with laptops, tablets, phones, and other technology.
• Skilled in time management, yet willing to work long hours and stay until tasks are completed.
• Competent in using hand tools and basic mechanical tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
• Safety-conscious and aware.
• Resourceful, confident, and capable of problem-solving effectively, even when initial plans fail.
• Prepared for physically demanding tasks and capable of handling heavy equipment in various weather conditions.
• Holds a valid driver's license with no restrictions and is comfortable driving in unfamiliar areas.
• Eligible to obtain a security clearance.
• Experience on the ocean or around boats is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity driving small boats.
• Experience operating autonomous boats.
• Previous military service is a plus.
• Background in working with children or teaching is beneficial.
• Proficient with RC vehicles and/or video games.
• Knowledge of basic networking, electronics, or software troubleshooting.
• Experience operating a forklift.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
