Unix Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead architect responsible for designing, constructing, and supporting UNIX solutions while serving as the primary DBA utilizing InterSystems Cache.

• Coordinates the installation of UNIX servers and devises a technology refresh plan for data center infrastructure, collaborating with vendors and team members to ensure minimal downtime.

• Accountable for the configuration and management of Cache databases.

• Collaborates closely with Network Engineers and Administrators to ensure alignment with the organization's objectives, fostering an innovative and redundant infrastructure that supports business continuity and disaster recovery.

• Must have proven experience with SAN-connected servers, Fiber Channel networking, and either HP-UX or IBM AIX.

• Should possess a strong understanding of DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP protocols.

• Works alongside network engineers and administrators to create a comprehensive security strategy utilizing virus scanning, firewalls, and IDS/IPS solutions.

• Provides user support functions, including 3rd and 4th level support, and assists end users across all client locations.

• Responsible for managing server backups, monitoring backup jobs to ensure their completion, and conducting data restore tests, storage, and replication in a SAN/NAS environment.

• Over 5 years of experience working with UNIX systems.

• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.

• Strong customer service abilities.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proficient in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Capable of performing under pressure.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

• Experience in an Epic environment is preferred.

• Background in Relational Database Administration.

• Previous experience in System Administration.

• At least 5 years of UNIX administration technical experience in an enterprise-class setting.

• Epic or InterSystems professional certifications are a plus.
