Underwriting Specialist – Commercial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary operational and account servicing support for one or more Risk Advisors, ensuring the effective management of commercial insurance accounts.

• Prepare, review, and process submissions, quotations, proposals, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes related to commercial insurance.

• Coordinate directly with insurance carriers and underwriters regarding new business, renewals, policy amendments, subjectivities, and outstanding requirements.

• Assist in the placement and servicing of commercial insurance policies, encompassing General Liability (GL), Property, Workers' Compensation (WC), Commercial Auto, Umbrella, and various other commercial coverages.

• Prepare, review, and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs), endorsements, evidence of coverage documents, and other policy-related paperwork.

• Review insurance policies for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that coverage terms, limits, and endorsements meet client specifications.

• Collect, organize, and validate client information needed for submissions, applications, renewals, and requests from carriers.

• Maintain precise records across insurance management systems, CRMs, and carrier portals.

• Oversee and monitor billing-related matters with clients and carriers, escalating discrepancies as necessary.

• Track outstanding policy requirements, carrier subjectivities, compliance items, and renewal schedules.

• Compose and send professional communications to clients, carriers, and underwriters on behalf of Risk Advisors.

• Conduct quality reviews of tasks completed by junior assistants or support staff, when applicable.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing servicing workflows, documentation standards, and operational efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in servicing U.S. commercial insurance accounts.

• Demonstrated experience working directly with insurance carriers and underwriters on commercial lines business.

• Experience in supporting manually underwritten commercial policies, including submissions, follow-ups, negotiations, and revisions.

• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including:

• General Liability (GL)

• Commercial Property

• Workers' Compensation (WC)

• Commercial Auto

• Umbrella/Excess Liability

• Experience in handling renewals, endorsements, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), policy checks, and account servicing tasks.

• Advanced understanding of insurance terminology, policy documentation, and commercial insurance workflows.

• Hands-on experience with insurance management systems and agency management platforms (AMS).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, carriers, and underwriters.
