Underwriting Help Desk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary liaison for ACM’s bridge and construction loan offerings.

• Address scenario inquiries and assess loan applications to ensure compliance with guidelines and appropriate structuring.

• Investigate and respond to guideline questions, delivering precise and timely underwriting assistance.

• Support loan officers and processors in determining loan eligibility, structuring, and interpreting guidelines.

• Conduct due diligence reviews of builders and construction-related documents; resolve underwriting conditions before closing and engage directly with builders as necessary.

• Organize construction files for loan modification to permanent status once construction is finalized.

• Evaluate and interpret complex income documentation, including personal and business tax returns, and carry out calculations for qualifying income.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in mortgage underwriting or junior underwriting roles.

• Familiarity with residential mortgage underwriting guidelines, documentation standards, and risk principles.

• Proficient in using Encompass, Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter, and Freddie Mac Loan Product Advisor.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with loan officers, borrowers, builders, and internal teams.

• Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational capabilities.

• Capacity to juggle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Experience with construction, bridge, or specialty lending products is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.

• Understanding of relevant federal and state mortgage lending regulations.

• Experience in reviewing income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation.

• Proven ability to quickly adapt to new products, systems, and guidelines.
