Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Offer underwriting support, guidance, and authorization to company staff, agents, and clients concerning real estate title insurance commitments and policies.

• Underwrite the issuance of title insurance adhering to underwriting standards and guidelines within designated authority limits.

• Assist company personnel in executing real estate settlement services.

• Establish underwriting standards and guidelines following the company’s established procedures.

• Relay information regarding underwriting and real estate settlement services to the team.

• Execute additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree is mandatory.

• Must be admitted to practice law in the state of employment.

• Current license to practice law and in good standing.

• 8-10 years of experience in title underwriting.

• Experience in title underwriting specific to Texas or Oklahoma.

• Knowledge of real estate law.

• Strong comprehension of real estate title and settlement processes.

• Familiarity with federal and state regulations pertinent to real estate title insurance and settlement services.

• Insight into underwriting real estate transactions for title insurance policies.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively and make prompt decisions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent listening, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational skills, capable of multitasking, prioritizing, and timely follow-ups.

• Proficient negotiation skills.

• Ability to employ abstract thinking and innovative solutions.

• Capability to make unique and sound decisions to address complex issues.

• Skill in building relationships and fostering rapport.
