
Underwriting Assistant – GL/Excess/Contracting Profit Center

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Provide underwriting support for pre-quote transactions.
• Validate data entries within underwriting workbooks and systems.
• Confirm documentation related to coverage and limits prior to transaction completion.
• Communicate with producers to gather necessary information.
• Review and process bind orders before the issuance of policies.
• Draft policies, ensure data accuracy, approve drafts within designated authority, and establish electronic records.
• Follow up with underwriters for approval on accounts outside of authority limits.
• Record premiums and verify accurate posting.
• Issue approved policies and review foundational policies.
• Report policy data to Workers Compensation bureaus and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Promptly resolve any criticisms from reporting agencies.
• Manage subjectivity and inspection follow-ups, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.
• Collaborate with internal departments to address policy inquiries and resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Review and report on monthly Pended Transaction and Un-mailed reports by Profit Center.
• Maintain cross-training capabilities for other Profit Centers.
• Perform additional assigned duties and special projects.
• Extensive knowledge in surplus lines policy issuance and post-bind operations.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proactive mindset.
• Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, email, and internet-based technologies.
• Strong mathematical and data analysis capabilities.
• Ability to interpret and manipulate report data effectively.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and switch quickly between tasks.
• Skill in reviewing and interpreting complex data.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to identify discrepancies and address issues.
• High level of accuracy in document review, data entry, and transaction processing.
• Capability to ensure that information is complete, accurate, and adheres to company standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to ask clarifying questions and provide timely updates.
• Capacity to collaborate with underwriters, assistants, and cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to share knowledge, support colleagues, and foster a positive work environment.
• Ability to deliver quality and timely service to both internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and other web-based technologies.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
