
Underwriting Assistant – GL and Excess

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Provide underwriting support with pre-quote transactions.
• Ensure accurate data entry into underwriting workbooks and systems.
• Assist in verifying proper documentation concerning coverage and limits.
• Communicate with producers as necessary to gather information required for transaction completion.
• Review and process bind orders efficiently.
• Utilize various internal systems to facilitate policy drafting.
• Complete the booking of premiums within the appropriate system.
• Issue policies that have received approval.
• Review underlying policies and report policy data to third-party reporting agencies.
• Process post-bind transactions including subjectivity, inspection follow-ups, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.
• Contribute positively to the Crum & Forster team environment and embrace a philosophy of continuous improvement.
• Assist with special projects as requested.
• Strong knowledge of surplus lines policy issuance and post-bind operations.
• High school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive attitude.
• Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, email, and internet-based technology.
• Excellent mathematical and data analysis skills; comfortable interpreting and manipulating report data.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and transition quickly between projects.
• Capable of reviewing and interpreting complex data.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.
• High accuracy in document reviews, data entry, and transaction processing.
• Ensure all information is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to share information, support colleagues, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
• Deliver quality and timely service to both internal and external customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and other required internet-based technologies.
