This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Offer essential administrative and programmatic assistance to our team at the Detained Adult Program.
• Perform individualized research on country conditions for asylum and other protection-related cases.
• Aid in the preparation of applications for immigration relief and other documentation pertinent to the immigration case, including FOIA requests.
• Support interpretation and translation efforts.
• Provide assistance with our hotline dedicated to detained adults.
• Procure criminal and medical records and gather other evidence to bolster clients’ cases.
• Engage with clients and their family members through telephone communication.
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• Ability to dedicate 15-20 hours per week.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
• Strong passion for human rights, social justice, and immigration rights matters.
• Exceptional research and writing abilities.
• Willingness to undertake administrative tasks.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Experience relating to and assisting low-income clients with backgrounds of trauma and/or prior interactions with the criminal justice system is advantageous.
