Remotery

UI/UX Specialist

Posted 1 day ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete UX/UI vision, guiding it from overarching art direction, mood, and tone to the final refinement in Unity.

• Design and execute user interface systems including HUDs, menus, onboarding processes, and settings.

• Enhance game feel through micro-interactions, transitions, easing curves, screen shake effects, particle timing, and synchronization of sound and haptic feedback.

• Develop and sustain a unified visual design system encompassing typography, color schemes, iconography, spacing, and motion language.

• Rapidly prototype and iterate independently, transforming one-line briefs or rough sketches into polished, shippable outcomes.

• Work closely with engineering and design within a compact team of 3–5 members.

• Balance accessibility considerations with aesthetic goals, including colorblind modes, readability, and consistent input methods across controller, keyboard/mouse, and touch.

• Create reusable UI components and prototyping tools for team utilization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Have successfully shipped at least one commercial game where you demonstrated clear, personal ownership over the UX/UI aspects.

• Maintain a portfolio that showcases both design thinking and actual in-engine implementation, rather than just Figma compositions.

• Possess a solid understanding of animation and motion principles, including easing, timing, anticipation, and follow-through, as applied to interface and feedback design.

• Be proficient in Figma/Adobe XD or similar tools for creating high-fidelity mockups, with the ability to accurately translate them into the engine.

• Have knowledge of "juice" and feedback-loop design.

• Exhibit demonstrated self-direction and the capability to guide ambiguous creative directions to a finished and polished state with minimal supervision.

• Strong foundational skills in typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.

• Experience in coordinating visual polish with audio and haptic feedback.

🏝️ Benefits

• Contract position with potential for extension based on project status and work compatibility.

• Approximately 30 hours per week contract role.

• Anticipated workload of 30–40 hours per week during most weeks.
