This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take the lead in UX/UI design for advanced software capabilities that support the modernization initiatives of the U.S. Army.
• Work collaboratively with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Engineering Leads, Software Engineers, DevSecOps, Cybersecurity Specialists, and Army stakeholders to establish user experience objectives and design standards.
• Perform user research, interviews, workshops, and usability studies with Army personnel to gain insights into mission workflows, operational challenges, and decision-making requirements.
• Convert intricate operational processes into straightforward user journeys, task flows, information architectures, and interaction designs.
• Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and production-ready user interface specifications.
• Develop and sustain a scalable design system that includes reusable components, typography, color standards, accessibility guidelines, and interaction patterns.
• Craft intuitive interfaces that depict operational data, geospatial information, Common Operating Pictures (COPs), task management, AI-assisted recommendations, and mission planning workflows.
• Collaborate closely with Software Engineers to guarantee that designs are technically viable, efficient, and optimized for secure cloud-native applications.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Conduct usability tests with Army users and integrate operational feedback into ongoing design enhancements.
• Generate UX artifacts including user personas, journey maps, workflow diagrams, storyboards, and design documentation.
• Assist in customer demonstrations, executive briefings, pilot deployments, and operational evaluations through engaging interface prototypes and visualizations.
• Contribute to the establishment of scalable UX practices, design standards, and reusable design assets that facilitate future software development initiatives.
• An active Secret security clearance is mandatory.
• A Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or in a similar capacity supporting complex software products.
• Proficiency in designing modern web-based applications using user-centered design principles.
• Proven ability to transform vague operational requirements into intuitive user experiences.
• Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools.
• Experience working with Product Owners, Software Engineers, and cross-functional Agile teams.
• Strong grasp of user-centered design, interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Exceptional visual design skills with a keen focus on usability, clarity, consistency, and information hierarchy.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including experience in presenting designs to technical teams and senior stakeholders.
