UI Artist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Conceptualize and design UI and HUD layouts and assets, including menus, icons, buttons, frames, panels, and other interface components, starting from wireframes and mock-ups to final in-engine implementation.

• Create clear and visually compelling UI solutions that simplify complex design challenges and enhance user-friendliness.

• Ensure that the user interface experience is intuitive, readable, and consistent, while aligning with the overall art direction.

• Maintain a uniform visual aesthetic across all UI assets and screens.

• Collaborate with the Lead Artist, Designers, Engineers, and Technical Artists to produce well-optimized assets that meet technical specifications and production standards.

• Develop wireframes, mock-ups, user flows, and visual prototypes in partnership with Designers to convey interaction and layout concepts.

• Assist in the creation and arrangement of animated UI elements and, when necessary, 3D UI components.

• Evaluate existing UI layouts, menus, and assets, and suggest visual and usability enhancements.

• Clearly communicate the rationale behind design decisions and respond constructively to feedback.

• Participate in the broader design and art process by providing feedback and recommendations to enhance the user interface experience.

• Engage in task planning, estimation, and scheduling with the Lead Artist and Production Team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a User Interface Artist or in a similar capacity within game development.

• Proven record of working on at least one released or live game title, preferably on mobile platforms.

• Strong portfolio showcasing UI art capabilities, including menus, HUDs, icons, buttons, visual hierarchy, layout, and polished final UI assets.

• Comprehensive understanding of mobile UI constraints, including readability, screen resolution, aspect ratios, touch interaction, and asset optimization.

• Excellent visual design skills, encompassing composition, color, typography, shape language, iconography, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to create UI assets from wireframes or design briefs to final production-ready artwork.

• Practical knowledge of how UI assets are implemented in a game engine or real-time development setting.

• Comfortable collaborating with designers, engineers, technical artists, and other creative team members.

• Capability to iterate swiftly based on feedback while preserving visual quality and consistency.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly.

• Well-organized, proactive, and adept at managing assigned tasks within production timelines.

• Experience with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or proprietary engines is advantageous.

• Experience with console titles is a plus.

• Familiarity with UI animation, motion design, or 3D UI elements is an advantage.

• Proficiency with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, After Effects, Spine, or similar UI/art tools is beneficial.
