This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Assume full responsibility for the UI of features and live operations content: wireframes, mock-ups, user flows, prototypes, original icons and illustrations, final visuals, and in-engine integration.
• Create refined, brand-aligned UI art from the ground up: icons, illustrations, banners, promotional images, event key art, and other bespoke visual elements that enhance the premium feel of screens.
• Collaborate closely with our sister game, Big Farm Homestead: grasp their UI designs and underlying intentions, tailor them for the Sunshine Islands audience and visual style, and relay insights back to the SI team.
• Integrate UI into Unity independently – constructing and connecting prefabs, anchors, layouts, and responsive scaling – in close partnership with programmers and technical artists.
• Animate UI elements in Unity (Timeline, DOTween, Animator) to produce smooth transitions, feedback, and engaging effects.
• Sustain and enhance our UI design system – including the icon and illustration library – to ensure visual and interaction consistency across the product.
• Implement UI/UX best practices for mobile platforms and advocate for player interests within the team.
• Work collaboratively with game design, art, balancing, QA, and engineering – challenging UX for improvements and assisting others when UI becomes a bottleneck.
• Stay updated on the latest tools (including AI-assisted workflows) and introduce enhancements to our processes.
• Multiple years of professional experience in UI/UX design and UI production within the mobile gaming sector.
• Strong artistic abilities demonstrated through a portfolio of UI artwork: original icons, illustrations, banners, and event/offer visuals developed from concept to final product.
• Proven hands-on experience with UI integration in Unity (UGUI, prefabs, anchors, layouts, and mobile responsive scaling).
• Strong UI animation expertise in Unity using Timeline, DOTween, Animator, or similar tools.
• Proficient in Figma for design, handoff, and design-system tasks.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator) – capable of delivering high-quality icons, illustrations, banners, promotional images, and marketing-related UI art that meets the polished mobile game standards.
• Comfortable using Git (or similar version control systems): managing branches, merging UI assets, and resolving conflicts smoothly.
• Excellent communication skills in English and a robust collaborative mindset – able to work effectively across various disciplines and time zones, articulate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and proactively identify issues early in the process.
• A solid grasp of UI/UX information architecture, interaction design, and industry standards for mobile games.
• A self-driven individual with a passion for mobile and casual gaming, strong analytical abilities, and a customer-centric approach.
• Additional skills to impress us: curiosity about and hands-on experience with AI image generation and AI-assisted design tools, along with ideas to integrate them into a production pipeline.
• Experience with UI shaders / Shader Graph for stylized UI effects.
• Familiarity with Jira and Trello for managing UI/art tasks.
• A completed degree in Media Psychology, Graphic Design, Game Design, or a related field.
• Sample work demonstrating UI animation and shader experimentation in Unity.
• Full flexibility: Work remotely or come to our modern office located in Hamburg city center near the Alster.
• Work-life balance: Competitive annual leave and flexible working hours.
• Become part of a supportive team in a pragmatic yet challenging environment, featuring flat hierarchies and cutting-edge technologies.
• Collaborate in a multicultural setting with multidisciplinary and experienced colleagues throughout the entire product lifecycle, in a culture that promotes continuous development and learning opportunities.
• Access sparring partners within game design.
• Team building: Strong collaboration among teams, regular studio events on-site, and snacks and drinks available at the office.
• Contribution towards public transport tickets (Deutschlandticket) for staff based in Germany.
