Tugboat Captain

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Safely and effectively operate the 700 HP Lugger tugboat along with its support equipment.

• Enforce the Company’s safety and environmental policies while encouraging the crew to adhere to them.

• Issue clear and precise commands and monitor safety and pollution prevention measures.

• Report any vessel defects, non-conformities, accidents, hazardous situations, and pollution risks to the Company.

• Evaluate and coordinate on-board training needs in collaboration with the Company.

• Keep safety information up-to-date and accessible for the crew.

• Review contingency plans and ship procedures, reporting any deficiencies found.

• Request assistance from the Company as needed to ensure safe and pollution-free vessel operations.

• Provide scheduling information to the crew regarding personnel assignments.

• Manage the vessel's budget and strive to enhance cost efficiency as directed.

• Complete necessary log entries and maintain a radio watch.

• Assign tasks and direct the mate and/or lead deckhand.

• Oversee crew members and ensure that all required duties are fulfilled.

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of shallow-water oil and gas wells while pushing a barge equipped with tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a U.S.C.G. MOTV licensed Captain with towing endorsements for Western Rivers, Oceans, and/or Near Coastal waters.

• A valid TWIC; receipts will not be accepted.

• A valid driver’s license.

• Capability to work in various weather conditions.

• Ability to carry, push/pull, and/or lift materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

• Must meet USCG physical examination standards.

• Capable of performing essential job functions with or without reasonable workplace accommodations.

• Required to wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Must be able to walk, step, climb, and navigate between job-site locations of varying heights and accessibility parameters.
