• Oversee the design and engineering of roof and floor truss systems for both residential and commercial projects using specialized truss software.
• Evaluate, authorize, and seal truss engineering designs and calculations in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Organize and prioritize the team's workload to achieve production targets on a daily, weekly, and project basis.
• Offer technical support to truss designers to address intricate design issues and inconsistencies.
• Analyze architectural and structural plans to ascertain suitable truss design specifications.
• Enhance truss designs for material efficiency, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
• Liaise with clients, architects, and engineers to clarify design specifications and resolve any challenges.
• Assist field teams in overcoming design and engineering obstacles encountered at job sites.
• Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and responses for permit reviews.
• Keep project files organized in alignment with Fieldstone's filing structure and standards.
• Ensure all work adheres to Fieldstone's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures and client-specific requirements.
• Guide and mentor team members to boost performance, efficiency, and technical skills.
• Engage in team meetings to tackle coordination, scheduling, and technical issues.
• Recognize opportunities for process enhancements to elevate team productivity and the quality of deliverables.
• Take responsibility for engineering quality and the overall success of projects.
• Active Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in truss design, structural engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in reviewing and approving structural or truss designs is preferred.
• Previous experience in leading, mentoring, or assisting a design team is preferred.
• Familiarity with residential and/or commercial truss systems is essential.
• Knowledge of component design applications and engineering software is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
