Triage Medical Assistant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Oversee incoming and outgoing patient communications through phone and secure messaging, ensuring professionalism, precision, and empathy.

• Gather patient details, including symptoms, demographics, and medication updates, and accurately record them in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

• Employ pre-approved clinical triage protocols and scripts to assist patients in determining the appropriate next steps (e.g., scheduling, provider messaging, or escalation).

• Support patients in utilizing digital tools (e.g., patient portal), managing appointment follow-ups, and addressing non-emergent health issues.

• Coordinate with LPNs, RNs, and providers by directing messages, processing refill requests, and assisting with documentation requirements such as FMLA, ADA, or disability paperwork.

• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain internal documentation accuracy and standards.

• Perform any additional tasks necessary to uphold our values, accomplish our mission, and adhere to our company principles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and possession of an active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent).

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare environment such as primary care, ambulatory care, or community health.

• Previous experience in telehealth, remote triage, or virtual care support is preferred.

• Strong communication abilities coupled with a calm and professional phone presence.

• High level of computer proficiency and experience using EMRs (Epic, Cerner, Greenway, etc.).

• Demonstrated capability to handle multiple tasks, maintain organization, and document interactions accurately and comprehensively.
