Translation Project Manager – Gaming

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• **Overview of the Position**

• The Translation Project Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple projects from the initial planning stage to final delivery. This role includes creating quotes and schedules, coordinating resource needs with the vendor manager, ensuring proper implementation, tracking progress, and managing several team members. Additionally, the manager processes invoicing and assists the sales team in acquiring new clients.

• **Primary Responsibilities**

• Oversee and direct all operations necessary for the successful completion of each project phase, including:

• *Planning*

- Define the project scope, which includes file analysis using memoQ, scheduling, and GM forecasting.

- Create a comprehensive schedule for project completion that effectively allocates available resources to meet profitability margins.

- Review the project schedule with management and other stakeholders affected by project activities, revising and updating as necessary.

- Assess project risks and propose strategies for mitigation.

• *Production*

- Collaborate with the Project Management team to ensure proper resource allocation, incorporating both in-house and in-territory linguists.

- Guarantee that projects are delivered punctually and within budget.

- Monitor the health of projects and proactively address any roadblocks or incidents with the team.

- Establish and maintain an effective communication strategy with customers and stakeholders to keep them informed about progress and any potential risks.

- Promote the use of AI and automation to enhance localization workflows, operational efficiency, and project delivery.

• *Team Management*

- Regularly evaluate the quality of project work with project coordinators to ensure standards are met.

- Assist with vendor management on an as-needed basis, including recruiting and assessing linguists.

- Train new staff members as required.

- Provide guidance and coaching to team members to enhance their operational efficiency.

- Periodically review translation capabilities and report any additional needs (in-house or freelance) based on upcoming projects.

• *Financial Oversight*

- Compile financial reports and supporting documentation, ensuring all project records are current and aligned with project requirements and budget.

- Ensure timely client billing and invoicing from the team.

- Take ownership of the invoicing process for projects.

• *Additional Responsibilities*

- Comply with company security, confidentiality, and health and safety procedures while ensuring team compliance.

- Follow the company's IT and HR protocols and ensure team adherence.

- Uphold ethical behavior and business practices, ensuring personal and team conduct aligns with organizational values.


⛳️ Requirements

• **Knowledge, Experience, and Skills**

• A minimum of three years of experience in localization project coordination or management, preferably within the video game industry.

• Proficiency in business software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).

• Advanced knowledge of memoQ; familiarity with other CAT tools is a plus.

• Understanding of TMS tools is advantageous.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively.

• Shows initiative and proactivity.

• Capability to devise innovative methods to enhance operations and create new opportunities.

• Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Maintains a positive, "can-do" attitude.
