Transformation Leader, Vehicle Operations, Powertrain Manufacturing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Advocate for and maintain a 'Safety First' culture throughout the manufacturing network, incorporating proactive risk evaluations, human-factors analysis, and governance of safety metrics.

• Spearhead the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles and the Ford Production System / World Class Manufacturing across engine, powertrain, battery, and vehicle assembly facilities.

• Promote standardized problem-solving methods, waste reduction, Kaizen initiatives, lean maturity, and quality assessment across various sites.

• Develop and execute a digital transformation strategy for manufacturing that encompasses Industry 4.0, smart factories, IIoT, data analytics, and automation.

• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and plant operations to pilot and scale digital tools that enhance throughput, quality, and cost-efficiency.

• Incorporate real-time dashboards and predictive analytics into daily operations and executive-level reporting.

• Oversee the KPI, scorecard, performance governance, and review structure across vehicle operations, powertrain, and battery business units.

• Assist in the launching of new manufacturing lines, from the commissioning of equipment and systems to steady-state production.

• Provide the Director with support in business planning, budget oversight, resource allocation, and organizational effectiveness.

• Drive improvements in Total Cost per Unit and efficiency, leading special projects on behalf of the Director.

• Build, lead, and cultivate a high-performing team focused on transformation, lean initiatives, digital strategies, and business management.

• Counsel plant managers, functional leaders, and senior executives; coordinate transformation efforts across global manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain sectors.

• Manage governance processes, executive communications, and reporting for Vehicle Operations & Powertrain.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in automotive manufacturing, operations, or transformation leadership, including exposure to new or greenfield launches.

• Proficiency in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies; Black Belt or equivalent certification is preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of the Ford Production System or similar OEM production systems.

• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale digital or Industry 4.0 transformation projects in manufacturing settings.

• Strong background in performance management systems, KPI development, and organizational governance.

• Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders within matrixed environments, including plant managers and site leaders.

• Exceptional analytical, strategic-thinking, and executive-communication abilities, with a capacity to lead through uncertainty and industrial disruption.

• Experience in engine, powertrain, battery/EV, or vehicle assembly operations is preferred.

• Previous experience supporting battery cell or battery pack manufacturing launches is preferred.

• Familiarity with MES, IIoT, predictive maintenance, and AI/ML applications in manufacturing is preferred.

• Prior experience in a senior-manager or director-level leadership role is preferred.

• Experience working in both union and non-union labor environments, as well as engagement in workforce organizing activities or UAW contract negotiations, is preferred.
