Trainer, Mechanical Engineering & Scan-to-CAD Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Provide hands-on training on the fundamentals of 3D scanning, particularly in the realm of mechanical engineering.

• Instruct on the entire Scan-to-CAD methodology, covering 3D scanning, point clouds, meshes, reverse engineering, CAD models, technical drawings, and manufacturing.

• Oversee project assignments utilizing real-world components.

• Integrate modern technologies and industry-specific case studies into the training curriculum.

• Assist participants in applying their theoretical knowledge in practical settings.

• Conduct training sessions in a virtual classroom environment as well.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical qualification or degree, such as in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data acquisition.

• Comprehensive understanding of a variety of scanning technologies, including laser, structured-light, or handheld scanners.

• Expertise in managing point clouds, mesh data, and working with STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP file formats.

• Experience in preparing and processing scanning data.

• Practical knowledge of integrating scanning data into CAD software.

• Familiarity with reverse engineering technical components and assemblies.

• Solid understanding of technical drawings and design principles.

• Previous experience in teaching adults or providing training sessions.

• Competence in Artec Studio, Geomagic (Design X/Warp), PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.

• Proficiency in at least one CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.

• Understanding of metrology, quality standards, and data assessment.

• Capability to evaluate scan results for accuracy and appropriateness for particular applications.

• Experience with practical workflows and project-based instructional methods.

• Interest in digital twins, digitalization, and the Scan-to-CAD process.

• A process-driven, comprehensive understanding of Scan-to-CAD workflows.

• Strong ability to convey complex information clearly, understandably, and engagingly.

• A self-directed, organized, and participant-centered work approach.

• Preferred: Certifications from scanner or software vendors.

• Preferred: Background in optical metrology or quality assurance.

• Preferred: Knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing.

• Preferred: Experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning initiatives.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI, BIM, or AR/VR technologies.

• Preferred: Experience in delivering online training.
