Trainer, 3D Scanning with a Focus on Mechanical Engineering and Scan-to-CAD

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Providing practical training in the fundamentals of 3D scanning, specifically tailored for mechanical engineering.

• Instructing participants on the entire scan-to-CAD workflow: 3D scanning → point cloud generation → mesh creation → reverse engineering → CAD modeling → technical drawing → manufacturing processes.

• Overseeing project assignments based on real-world components.

• Incorporating current technologies and industry applications into the curriculum.

• Assisting participants in confidently applying their acquired knowledge in practical scenarios.

• Conducting classes in a virtual classroom setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical qualification or degree, such as in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying technology.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data capture.

• Extensive knowledge of various scanning technologies, including laser, structured-light, and handheld scanners.

• Proficiency in handling point clouds, mesh data, and formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP.

• Experience in preparing and processing scan data for subsequent applications.

• Practical experience in integrating scan data into CAD systems.

• Familiarity with reverse engineering technical components and assemblies.

• Strong understanding of technical drawings and engineering principles.

• Experience in teaching adults or delivering training sessions.

• Knowledge of software tools like Artec Studio, Geomagic Design X/Warp, PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.

• Experience with at least one CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.

• Expertise in metrology, quality standards, and data evaluation.

• Ability to evaluate scan results for accuracy and practical application.

• Experience with hands-on workflows and project-based learning methodologies.

• An interest in digital twins, digitalization, and the scan-to-CAD process.

• Preferred: Certifications from scanner or software manufacturers.

• Preferred: Experience in optical metrology or quality assurance.

• Preferred: Knowledge of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.

• Preferred: Experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning initiatives.

• Preferred: Exposure to AI, BIM, or AR/VR technologies.

• Preferred: Experience in delivering online training sessions.

• A process-oriented, holistic understanding of the scan-to-CAD workflow.
