This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Provide practical, hands-on instruction in the fundamentals of 3D scanning, emphasizing mechanical engineering.
• Educate on the entire Scan-to-CAD process: 3D scanning → point cloud → mesh → reverse engineering → CAD model → technical drawing → manufacturing.
• Oversee project work involving real components to ensure strong practical application.
• Integrate current technologies and industry case studies into the educational experience.
• Assist participants in effectively applying their knowledge in practical scenarios, including in a virtual classroom setting.
• Essential: Technical vocational training or degree (e.g., mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying/measurement engineering).
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data acquisition.
• Strong understanding of various scanning technologies (e.g., laser scanning, structured-light, or handheld scanners).
• Proficient in working with point clouds, mesh data, and common file formats (STL, OBJ, PLY, STEP).
• Experience in preparing and post-processing scanned data.
• Practical experience in integrating scanned data into CAD systems.
• Knowledgeable in reverse engineering mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Good grasp of technical drawings and basic design principles.
• Capability to evaluate scan results in terms of accuracy and applicable uses.
• Familiar with tools such as Artec Studio, Geomagic (Design X/Warp), PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.
• Experience with at least one CAD system (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX).
• Understanding of metrology, quality standards, and data evaluation.
• Interest in topics such as digital twin technology, digitalization, and the Scan-to-CAD process.
• Nice-to-have: Certifications from scanner or software manufacturers.
• Experience in optical metrology or quality assurance.
• Knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing.
• Experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning projects.
• Exposure to AI, BIM, or AR/VR technologies.
