Trainer, 3D Scanning – Mechanical Engineering & Scan-to-CAD

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Providing hands-on training in the fundamentals of 3D scanning with an emphasis on mechanical engineering.

• Instructing on the full scan-to-CAD workflow, encompassing 3D scanning, point clouds, mesh data, reverse engineering, CAD models, technical drawings, and manufacturing processes.

• Overseeing project work that utilizes real-world components.

• Integrating current technologies and industry-specific use cases into the training curriculum.

• Assisting participants in applying their knowledge practically, including in virtual classroom settings.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical training background or degree, such as in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying engineering.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data capture.

• Proficient understanding of laser, structured-light, or handheld scanners.

• Expertise in point clouds, mesh data, and formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP.

• Experience in preparing and processing scan data.

• Hands-on experience in integrating scan data into CAD systems.

• Familiarity with the reverse engineering of technical components and assemblies.

• Solid knowledge of technical drawings and engineering principles.

• Experience in teaching adults or conducting training sessions.

• Familiarity with Artec Studio, Geomagic (Design X/Warp), PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.

• Proficient in at least one CAD system, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.

• Understanding of metrology, quality standards, and data evaluation.

• Capability to evaluate scan results for accuracy and appropriateness for their intended applications.

• Experience with practical workflows and project-based learning approaches.

• Interest in digital twins, digitalization, and scan-to-CAD methodologies.

• Certifications from scanner or software manufacturers are advantageous.

• Background in optical metrology or quality assurance is a plus.

• Knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing is beneficial.

• Experience with mobile mapping, drone scanning, or large-scale scanning initiatives is a plus.

• Familiarity with AI, BIM, or AR/VR technologies is advantageous.

• Prior experience in delivering online training is a plus.

• Process-oriented thinking and a comprehensive understanding of the scan-to-CAD workflow.

• Ability to articulate complex topics clearly, understandably, and engagingly.
