This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• You will deliver hands-on training in the fundamentals of 3D scanning, emphasizing mechanical engineering.
• You will instruct on the complete Scan-to-CAD workflow: 3D scanning → point cloud → mesh → reverse engineering → CAD model → technical drawing → manufacturing.
• You will oversee project work utilizing actual parts to guarantee real-world applicability.
• You will incorporate contemporary technologies and industry case studies into your teaching.
• You will assist participants in effectively applying their knowledge in practice, including in virtual classroom settings.
• Essential: A technical education or degree in areas such as mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, or surveying/metrology.
• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, or digital data acquisition.
• Strong understanding of various scanning technologies, including laser, structured light, and handheld scanners.
• Proficient in working with point clouds, mesh data, and common file formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP.
• Experience in preparing and post-processing scan data.
• Practical experience in integrating scan data into CAD systems.
• Background in reverse engineering technical parts and assemblies.
• Solid grasp of technical drawings and fundamental engineering principles.
• Experience in teaching adults or delivering professional training.
• Familiarity with software tools like Artec Studio, Geomagic (Design X/Warp), PolyWorks, VXelements, or FARO Scene.
• Proficiency with at least one CAD system, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
• Knowledge of metrology, quality standards, and data evaluation processes.
• Capability to evaluate scan results for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Experience with practical workflows and project-based learning methodologies.
• Interest in subjects like digital twins, digitalization, and the Scan-to-CAD process.
• Nice-to-have: Certifications from scanner or software manufacturers.
• Nice-to-have: Experience in optical metrology or quality assurance.
• Nice-to-have: Understanding of 3D printing/additive manufacturing.
