This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• The Traffic Engineer will be tasked with creating models utilizing raw data to reflect travel behavior preferences.
• This role involves close collaboration with our clients and engineering teams.
• Develop traffic and transportation models for various projects, including corridor studies, signal timing, multimodal planning studies, traffic safety assessments, parking evaluations, and more.
• Conduct analyses of diverse transportation and planning data while supporting technical evaluations, feasibility studies, traffic reports, and other transportation documentation or memorandums.
• Execute calibration, validation, and testing of models to ensure their effectiveness and revise models as needed.
• Analyze data from traffic modeling software and integrate it into transportation models.
• Gain professional experience with traffic forecasting software (e.g., Dynus-T, Visum, Cube/Voyager, TransCAD) and traffic analysis tools (e.g., TransModeler, Vissim, Corsim, Synchro, TruTraffic, Rodel, HCS, and Vision Zero Suite).
• Collaborate closely with the Planning group to support planning studies (master transportation plans, bike/pedestrian plans).
• Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to present work activities to both internal project teams and external clients and stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation, urban planning, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of relevant modeling experience.
• Capability to effectively coordinate with internal teams and clients.
• Excellent writing skills, detail-oriented, and adept at communicating ideas and synthesizing information for reports.
• Understanding of the principles and practices related to planning, modeling, transportation data collection, and analysis.
• Experience handling large datasets.
• Proficiency in some or all of the following tools: ArcMap, mapping & spatial processing of socioeconomic & demographic data, travel demand modeling software like TransCAD & Cube/Voyager, ETL with traffic big data such as StreetLight Data, and traffic operations & microscopic modeling software such as TransModeler, HCS, Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA Corsim, Rodel, Vistro & Vissim; also tools including Dynus-T, Visum, Corsim, TruTraffic, and Vision Zero Suite.
• Familiarity with CAD Software Applications such as C3D or Bentley MicroStation is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java).
• Experience in developing dashboards (Tableau, Power BI).
• Proficient in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Experience in graphic design using software like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
