Title Examiner, Southwest

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Title Examiners are tasked with abstracting and reviewing documents from public records, providing title opinions based on the facts and documentation available.

• Assess title orders in accordance with company standards to evaluate the title's condition and insurability by considering the implications of documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other recorded matters.

• Investigate relevant title plant software, analyze, and evaluate important record documents to determine ownership, legal descriptions, and any connections to the title.

• Clarify the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and management.

• Identify title defects and develop curative solutions.

• Evaluate risks and liabilities that could threaten the company and report these issues to the local title manager, state title manager, or underwriter as necessary.

• Uphold appropriate production levels and delivery standards on a daily basis.

• Collaborate closely with customers and escrow staff to meet deadlines for options and assist with inquiries.

• Create an accurate and thorough title commitment following company examination and policy procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant experience in title examination within the states of CA, AZ, and NV.

• Proficiency with TitlePoint, DataTrace, and searching county websites.

• Understanding of underwriting policies and guidelines.

• A solid grasp of metes and bounds, along with adverse matters related to the subject property.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Organizational abilities and the capacity to work within set timeframes.

• Capability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.

• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

• At least four years of experience in the industry.
