This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Seek out and secure new small to medium business customers within a designated territory.
• Onboard and ramp up newly acquired accounts to grow the customer base.
• Foster prospect engagement through various channels including phone, video, in-person meetings, and digital tools.
• Schedule the necessary number of weekly appointments with key decision-makers.
• Identify the incremental and programmatic needs of prospects.
• Articulate Staples' value propositions, capabilities, products, and assortments across all categories.
• Address objections and successfully close sales.
• Utilize designated selling tools to prioritize tasks, enhance efficiency, and document customer interactions and information, such as Priority List, Tenfold, and SFDC.
• Collaborate with customer support/setup teams and category specialists to advance deals to a closed status.
• Execute and ramp up wins while ensuring compliance with new accounts/programs.
• Assist in product selection and standardization based on the purchasing processes of the prospect's industry.
• Develop lasting accounts that continue to make purchases from Staples.
• Incorporate prospect feedback into the sales strategy.
• Manage assortment and pricing for new customers.
• Maintain close communication and collaboration with Category Specialists and Support teams.
• Engage with prospects daily in a professional manner, both in-person and virtually.
• 1-3 years of proven sales experience or success as a Staples B2B Sales Associate.
• Over 3 years of experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of the industry is preferred.
• Strong motivation and a competitive spirit.
• A strong aversion to complacency.
• Demonstrated capability to view rejection as an opportunity for learning and to focus on subsequent actions.
• Experience and a successful track record in business development.
• Strong ability to craft and deliver presentations both virtually and in person.
• Skills in consultative selling, solutions selling, insight selling, negotiation, and advanced client management.
• Ability to collaborate with product category sales team members.
• Strong acumen in business, finance, operations, and technology.
• Ability to analyze business and industry trends to create customized solutions that align with Staples' value proposition.
• Capability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
• Drive and motivation to identify, develop, and close sales opportunities.
• Demonstrated work ethic and self-discipline.
• Ability to thrive in a competitive sales or goal-oriented setting.
