Temporary Part-Time Program Coordinator – Student Aid Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversees the precise distribution of financial aid and scholarships by thoroughly evaluating student records and implementing necessary updates and corrections based on received documentation.

• Utilizes professional judgment, as permitted by the Department of Education, to amend FAFSA data elements, ensuring eligibility reflects a student’s current family financial circumstances.

• Clearly communicates the documentation required from students and parents, updating systems to indicate needed paperwork.

• Reviews received documentation, confirms the acquisition of necessary information, makes informed, fair, and consistent decisions regarding courses of action, and adjusts records to accurately depict a student’s eligibility.

• Maintains comprehensive documentation of situations and any changes or adjustments made.

• Works collaboratively with team members to set daily priorities and divide tasks in accordance with management’s established expectations.

• Effectively communicates with the team and other SFS staff to address issues, seek assistance, or offer support, ensuring that student needs are met promptly and accurately.

• Solves complex issues by analyzing documents and investigating federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.

• Manages conflicts, addresses complaints, and develops strategies to prevent future issues.

• Designs, develops, and implements educational service programs pertaining to financial aid and scholarships.

• Provides counseling and thoroughly explains processes to customers through in-person interactions, online communications, or telephone conversations.

• Responds to inquiries from internal customers regarding processes in which they are involved or tasks they have completed.

• Regularly addresses “acknowledged” and “In Process” tickets and assists with ticket management during peak periods.

• Continuously monitors the evolving rules, regulations, policy bulletins, and statutes from federal, state, and other agencies, including the University.

• Regularly reviews, updates, and adheres to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and to uphold best practices.

• Trains staff members in specialized areas of expertise.

• Performs additional related duties as assigned by the supervisor and other senior SFS staff.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.

• At least three (3) years of relevant experience.

• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.

• Must possess problem-solving skills that include:

• The capacity to maintain confidentiality.

• Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree.
