
Telehealth Physician – Weight Management, MD/DO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Perform synchronous telehealth evaluations for new GLP-1 patients, determining eligibility, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment objectives in accordance with Berry Street’s clinical guidelines.
• Prescribe and adjust dosages of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications (such as Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc.).
• Oversee and manage follow-up appointments, dosage adjustments, side effect counseling, and lab reviews through a combination of synchronous visits and asynchronous chart evaluations, adhering to relevant state regulations.
• Review Berry Street RD care summaries prior to prescribing sessions and utilize documented lifestyle modification history in your clinical records.
• Sign Letters of Medical Necessity for prior authorization submissions, with PA Coordinators managing all electronic prior authorization logistics.
• Address PA appeals that necessitate clinical input within 48 hours and assist with renewal prior authorization documentation every 6-12 months.
• Engage in clinical reviews led by the Medical Director, participate in protocol updates, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance the prescribing experience.
• Operate within Berry Street’s Professional Corporation (PC) in complete compliance with CPOM — all clinical decisions rest solely with you.
• Maintain valid licensure, malpractice insurance, and payer credentialing across contracted states.
• Take part in periodic chart audits and quality assessments directed by the Medical Director.
• MD or DO from a recognized U.S. medical school; board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a related specialty (ABMS or AOA).
• Active, unrestricted medical licenses in at least 30 U.S. states; strong preference for candidates willing to obtain additional licenses to expand patient access; IMLC enrollment or eligibility is a significant advantage.
• A minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience managing patients with obesity, metabolic syndrome, or type 2 diabetes.
• Comfort in practicing within a fully remote clinical setting and proficiency with EHR platforms.
• Active NPI and professional liability/malpractice insurance that includes coverage for telehealth services.
• Board certification or training in Obesity Medicine (ABOM) is a positive attribute.
• Previous telehealth prescribing experience in weight management or metabolic health is an asset.
• Licenses in high-demand states (CA, TX, FL, NY, PA, IL, OH, GA, NC, AZ) are highly desirable.
