
Telehealth Physician – Weight Management, MD/DO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Conduct synchronous telehealth assessments for new GLP-1 patients, evaluating eligibility, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment objectives in accordance with Berry Street’s clinical guidelines.
• Prescribe and adjust dosages of FDA-approved GLP-1 medications (such as Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc.).
• Oversee and manage follow-up appointments, dosage adjustments, side effect counseling, and lab evaluations through a combination of synchronous visits and asynchronous chart reviews, following applicable state regulations.
• Review Berry Street RD care summaries prior to prescribing sessions and refer to documented lifestyle modification history in your clinical notes.
• Sign Letters of Medical Necessity for prior authorization requests; PA Coordinators will manage all electronic prior authorization logistics and submissions.
• Address PA appeals requiring clinical insight within 48 hours and assist with renewal PA documentation every 6-12 months.
• Engage in clinical reviews, protocol updates, and quality improvement initiatives led by the Medical Director to enhance the prescribing experience continuously.
• Operate within Berry Street’s Professional Corporation (PC) while fully complying with CPOM — all clinical decisions are yours to make.
• Maintain active medical licensure, malpractice insurance, and payer credentials across contracted states.
• Participate in periodic chart audits and quality assessments conducted by the Medical Director.
• MD or DO from a recognized U.S. medical school; board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a relevant specialty (ABMS or AOA).
• Active and unrestricted medical licenses in at least 30 U.S. states; a willingness to acquire additional licenses to expand patient access is highly preferred; enrollment or eligibility for IMLC is a notable advantage.
• A minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience treating patients with obesity, metabolic syndrome, or type 2 diabetes.
• Comfort working in a fully remote clinical setting with familiarity in EHR platforms.
• Active NPI and professional liability/malpractice insurance that covers telehealth interactions.
• Board certification or training in Obesity Medicine (ABOM) is advantageous.
• Previous telehealth prescribing experience in weight management or metabolic health is a benefit.
• Licenses in high-volume states (CA, TX, FL, NY, PA, IL, OH, GA, NC, AZ) are a considerable advantage.
