This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Define and enhance Astrea’s technology vision and architecture by creating a solid plan to modernize the stack and minimize technical debt in alignment with the product roadmap.
• Make strategic technical choices for the product — including architecture, technology selections, and build vs. buy evaluations — to support Astrea’s growth and evolution, particularly regarding AI integration and productivity tools that enhance the team’s delivery capacity.
• Stay ahead of technology trends in the legaltech and B2B SaaS sectors to guarantee ongoing innovation and maintain the product’s competitive edge.
• Establish and track key technology KPIs and OKRs for the product area, sharing outcomes with the CPO and providing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
• Define, implement, and enhance software engineering processes, tools, and practices — including CI/CD, quality assurance, automated testing, code reviews, and releases — to ensure a high frequency and reliability of deliveries.
• Work closely with the Director of Product and Technology to build and refine the Astrea product roadmap, ensuring technical feasibility, realistic time estimates, and delivery speed.
• Guarantee that delivery teams operate at high productivity and quality levels, promoting modern engineering practices and intelligent AI adoption to significantly increase delivery capacity.
• Coordinate technical dependencies across product teams to ensure alignment, integration, and the absence of bottlenecks in the development process.
• Identify and proactively tackle accumulated technical debt, prioritizing initiatives that will have the most significant impact on performance, stability, and delivery speed.
• Ensure that Astrea maintains high performance, availability, and reliability in production, with a continuous focus on enhancing the end-user experience.
• Define and monitor product performance and availability SLAs, establishing processes for monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Lead the solutions team to ensure that customer technical issues are resolved swiftly and effectively, with lessons learned communicated back to the product team.
• Oversee the performance team to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring that the product scales effectively as the customer base expands.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable the technical leadership across the four teams for their area results.
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture based on autonomy, ownership, continuous improvement, and innovation.
• Attract, develop, and retain top technical talent, ensuring continuous growth for team members.
• Cultivate a data-driven culture and promote evidence-based decision-making within the product technology teams.
• Manage the product technology budget with a focus on efficiency, prioritizing investments that yield the highest strategic returns for the roadmap.
• Identify and implement improvements in processes, tools, and automation that enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
• Negotiate tools, licenses, and technology services utilized in product development and operation.
• Assess and recommend the adoption of AI and automation tools in the development cycle, emphasizing measurable productivity enhancements for the teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in technology, with a solid foundation in software development and systems architecture.
• At least 3 years of experience in senior technical leadership positions (Tech Lead, Head of Engineering, Staff Engineer, Architect, Engineering Manager, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in B2B SaaS companies, with a history of delivering digital products in high-growth environments — including contexts involving technical debt, architecture modernization, or performance improvements.
• Significant experience managing technology teams of 15+ members, including leading multiple squads and developing mid-level technical leaders (Tech Leads, Engineering Managers).
• In-depth knowledge of scalable software architecture, modern engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, observability), and web application performance management.
• Ability to make strategic technical decisions based on data and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in environments with high technical complexity, including systems with legacy code, multiple dependencies, or architectures undergoing migration/modernization.
• Strong results orientation, capability to work under pressure, and skill in prioritizing tasks in fast-paced, complex settings.
• Excellent collaboration skills with product, design, and business teams.
• Nice-to-have:
• Proficiency in React and Angular for frontend development, as well as Java and Kotlin for backend development.
• Experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform).
• Familiarity with the lawtech/legaltech market.
• Experience with incremental migration strategies (such as strangler fig and monolith modularization).
• Knowledge of observability and APM tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Grafana).
• Experience utilizing AI in the development cycle (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, automated code review tools).
