This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
β’ Handle inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, and other callers.
β’ Offer professional and courteous phone support during the criteria-based prior authorization process.
β’ Ensure complete, timely, and accurate documentation of reviews.
β’ Transfer clinical inquiries, escalations, and judgment calls to the pharmacist team.
β’ Make outbound calls as necessary.
β’ Review and process prior authorization requests received via fax and ePA.
β’ Monitor and respond to inquiries through departmental mailboxes.
β’ Enter prior authorization requests and confirm necessary documentation.
β’ Verify insurance coverage to establish if prior authorization is needed.
β’ Examine medical records and clinical documentation for medical necessity and appropriateness.
β’ Assist with appeals for denied or rejected prior authorization requests.
β’ Document patient information, medical codes, and authorization status in electronic systems.
β’ Identify process inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
β’ Communicate with healthcare providers to gather information, clarify documentation, and relay decisions or requirements.
β’ Stay updated on industry regulations, medical coding guidelines, and prior authorization standards.
β’ Adhere to regulatory guidelines, company policies, and industry standards.
β’ Minimum of 6 months experience in Customer Service or as a Pharmacy Technician.
β’ High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
β’ Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
β’ Availability to work mandatory overtime or extended hours when necessary.
β’ Willingness to travel as required.
β’ Ability to manage workload by handling inbound calls and fax requests with professionalism and courtesy.
β’ Compliance with departmental, company, state, and federal regulations when processing information.
β’ Capability to maintain a privacy- and security-compliant home office environment.
β’ Ability to safeguard confidential information from being accessed or overheard by others at home.
β’ Capacity to sit for extended periods, up to 100% of the time.
β’ Ability to talk on the phone for long durations, 90β100% of the time.
β’ Proficiency in reading a computer screen for lengthy periods, 100% of the time.
