Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop, edit, and sustain end-user documentation, including work aids, user guides, release notes, FAQs, and training materials for enterprise applications.

• Prepare both internal and external communications regarding software releases, system enhancements, maintenance activities, and user notifications.

• Collaborate closely with NHTSA business stakeholders to collect information and produce user-facing documentation and job aids.

• Create and maintain documentation in Confluence while organizing project knowledge repositories.

• Work alongside project managers, business analysts, developers, testers, and product owners to comprehend application changes and convert them into user-friendly documentation.

• Uphold documentation standards and ensure that all deliverables are accurate, consistent, and comply with federal documentation guidelines.

• Revise existing documentation to represent system enhancements and production releases accurately.

• Facilitate user adoption by generating instructional materials and documentation for new features and functionalities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven experience in producing federal project documentation, including release notes, user guides, work aids, training materials, and customer-facing communications.

• Experience in direct collaboration with federal stakeholders to create end-user documentation.

• Proficiency in Confluence for effective documentation management is essential.

• Familiarity with Jira to track documentation tasks and software releases.

• Exceptional written, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, concise documentation for business and end-users.

• Experience in supporting Agile software development teams.
