Senior Technical Writer – India

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create internal and customer-oriented documentation for a range of highly technical products.

• Gain an understanding of various product areas by collaborating with a cross-functional team, while producing documents such as release notes, user guides, API documentation, and other documentation deliverables promptly.

• Engage with subject matter experts, including developers, product managers, customer support, and sales, to comprehend software deliverables for crafting release notes and other documents for general availability releases.

• Conduct research, analyze data, and test both new and existing software to generate documentation content.

• Demonstrate a strong capability to understand technical concepts and ensure the accuracy of customer-facing documentation.

• Develop product information using clear and concise English by organizing ideas and translating complex technical jargon into accessible information for readers.

• Ensure that documentation maintains attributes of task orientation, accuracy, completeness, clarity, concreteness, organization, retrievability, and visual effectiveness.

• Communicate issues and seek assistance promptly to deliver documentation within the deadlines of software releases.

• Work independently while being detail-oriented, organized, a team player, and approachable.

• Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Continuously strive to enhance the quality of our product documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience in authoring documentation for software products.

• BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field.

• At least 5+ years of experience in software technical documentation.

• Ability to simplify complex concepts for better understanding.

• Experience in a technical writing role within an agile software development environment.

• Proficient in writing API documentation.

• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

• Experience using image capture tools and PowerPoint to effectively convey concepts when necessary.

• A sense of ownership and a proactive “can do” attitude with a passion for meeting tight deadlines.

• Experience with IT security technologies, as well as iOS and Android mobile operating systems and technologies, is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with Oxygen XML Editor is a plus.

• Experience with Markdown and Slate HTML documentation is also a plus.
