This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and revise scientific and technical documentation in accessible language for a diverse audience.
• Generate a variety of documentation including training materials, white papers, user manuals, reports, process diagrams, workflows, presentations, strategic plans, guidance documents, communication plans, studies, briefings, and meeting notes. These materials are produced in multiple formats such as documents, PowerPoints, web pages, etc.
• Review and edit critical project documents and artifacts for spelling, grammar, context, flow, and clarity; precision in execution is essential.
• Oversee the writing of multiple projects with varying deadlines.
• Assist in the analysis, development, and editing of presentations, manuals, data diagrams, and intricate reports.
• Collaborate with program office staff to research and publish reports.
• Facilitate the workflow process to ensure the successful completion of each revision cycle and distribution of technical publications.
• Adhere to established quality processes to ensure accuracy, user-friendliness, and timely delivery of content for each revision cycle.
• Compose content for technical publications as instructed.
• Conduct reviews and analysis of technical documents to thoroughly understand the functioning of complex systems and their integration into technical manuals, ensuring appropriate levels of text and graphics for the end user.
• Work with internal and external customers, as well as engineering teams, to create or modify technical manuals that align with departmental and corporate priorities.
• Provide management with insights on new processes or technologies for integration into the technical publications business model.
• Assist in devising solutions to address technology and technical issues presented by external suppliers for incorporation into existing manuals.
• A bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of prior experience in technical writing, communications strategy, and implementation is required.
• At least 8 years of experience writing for federal government acquisitions and organizations related to program management or equivalent entities.
• Experience in writing and editing complex technical materials created by others, adhering to established practices, standards, and guidelines, including the application of technical communications.
• Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suite applications.
• Must hold an active DoD Secret clearance.
