This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.
• Provide comprehensive training consultations for both internal Qualus personnel and external clients.
• Oversee technical training programs and facilitate training sessions.
• Offer subject-matter expertise to instructional designers and learning scientists.
• Collaborate on training projects, including defining scope, success metrics, milestones, and ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and operational objectives.
• Convert design workflows and job responsibilities into educational objectives, scenarios, labs, and assessments.
• Evaluate and authorize storyboards and modules for technical correctness and practicality.
• Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for topics related to substation design engineering, encompassing protection and control, physical layout, documentation, and QA/QC.
• Conduct QualU’s Engineering Boot Camp, which includes Protection & Control, Physical Substation, Settings, Transmission Line, and Distribution Engineering tracks.
• Engage with stakeholders to identify skills gaps, prioritize curriculum development, and outline career progression pathways.
• Assist in change management training for new tools and processes.
• Utilize data and analytics to assess training effectiveness and propose improvements.
• Organize internal and client training seminars, mentor coaches, and facilitate train-the-trainer programs.
• Manage training logistics in partnership with the Training Operations team.
• Represent Qualus in client-facing scoping, Statement of Work (SOW) inputs, and stakeholder communications.
• Integrate human performance principles into all training programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• More than 5 years of experience in protection and controls and/or physical substation design engineering.
• 1–2+ years of experience in mentoring, coaching, or leading technical training initiatives.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of power studies, settings file creation, transmission line design, and/or distribution design.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory, protection and control principles, and relevant industry standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE).
• Proficiency in reviewing electrical drawings, relay/IED settings, and client design standards.
• Familiarity with substation design workflows.
• Experience in delivering both in-person and virtual training sessions.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
