This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Execute mechanical engineering tasks and deliverables for GeoEngineers’ trenchless engineering initiatives that involve HDD and intricate mechanical tools and equipment.
• Assess proposed trenchless crossings to identify necessary mechanical equipment and construction techniques.
• Evaluate pipe stresses, mechanical characteristics, drilling fluid pressures, formation limit pressures, and geometric limitations.
• Analyze mechanical soil characteristics derived from laboratory tests and suggest specialized mechanical equipment.
• Generate HDD plan/profile designs, engineering calculations, and equipment arrangements.
• Create technical proposals, project estimates, and bidding documents.
• Provide daily reporting, budget oversight, and field engineering assistance.
• Supervise mechanical engineering components of HDD projects from pre-construction to final closure.
• Develop and uphold baseline HDD project timelines, track daily advancements, and collaborate with subcontractors and subconsultants.
• Act as a technical resource for clients and project teams.
• Administer HDD project budgets, monitor expenses, identify variances, and implement risk management strategies.
• Maintain project documentation, which includes submittals, drawings, change orders, and final packages.
• Review deliverables from staff and guide junior personnel.
• Ensure HDD operations adhere to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Conduct mechanical engineering analyses and calculations while developing intricate conceptual models.
• Utilize specialized engineering software pertinent to mechanical engineering and HDD projects.
• Investigate mechanical equipment malfunctions and propose solutions.
• Travel domestically to project locations, primarily in Texas and Louisiana, up to 20% of the time.
• A Bachelor’s degree or its foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Six years of experience as an Engineer, Project Manager, or in a closely related engineering role.
• Six years of engineering experience on projects involving HDD.
• Six years of experience using MathCAD, ArcGIS, MODFLOW, FLAC, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, Plaxis, or similar engineering software.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Completion of coursework at either the undergraduate or graduate level that covers Numerical Modeling or Finite Elements.
• Applicants must be U.S. workers.
