
Technical Support Engineer – Opplane VLMA Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as the main point of contact for technical concerns, conducting initial triage, data gathering, and basic troubleshooting for the Opplane VLMA platform.
• Access Linux-based systems to investigate system messages and application logs to identify where a connection or session is encountering issues.
• Thoroughly document technical observations and escalate highly complex routing or product bugs to Tier 3 senior engineers.
• Clearly communicate technical procedures and solutions to customer network administrators through ticketing systems, email, or live support calls.
• 1–3 years of experience in a technical support, network operations center (NOC), or entry-level network administration role.
• Associate’s degree in Networking, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience/certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, or CompTIA Linux+/Network+).
• Networking Fundamentals & CLI Proficiency
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with the Cisco IOS or Juniper Junos Command Line Interface for interface configuration, routing table checks, and network status verification.
• Solid understanding of core networking principles including: IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Subnets, VLANs, Static routing, and basic dynamic routing protocols.
• Familiarity with data tunneling concepts (such as GRE or basic VPNs) for secure traffic transmission across networks.
• Experience in Linux System Administration
• Comfort navigating within a Linux/Unix environment using standard terminal commands to: Navigate directories, View system logs, and Manage files.
• Ability to utilize native Linux tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, ifconfig/ip, netstat) for troubleshooting server-side network connectivity.
• Basic understanding of service management, including checking system services and verifying application status through the command line.
• Familiarity with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump to confirm traffic successfully reaches its destination.
• General knowledge of virtualized network environments (VMs) and the connection of remote edge devices (like routers or gateways) back to a central core network.
