This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.
• Effectively manage time to ensure that all potential customers and buying accounts are contacted efficiently, including conducting site visits at least quarterly with the top 25% of the account base.
• Attain a high level of sales efficiencies by consistently identifying and leveraging profitable sales opportunities.
• Optimize sales outcomes by prioritizing the customer base and fostering relationships that position us as the first call when they source raw materials.
• Maintain a high degree of responsiveness and follow-up to meet customer needs.
• Develop and sustain extensive product knowledge by participating in supplier and internal training sessions, traveling jointly with principals, and researching products through internal and external resources.
• Attain proficiency in sales and product knowledge to effectively resolve issues for the customer base, thereby enhancing value for the customer.
• Build relationships across the customer network in the territory to ensure we are maximizing our understanding of their needs and decision-making processes.
• Prepare written reports summarizing all sales calls through Supplier Highlight Reports, focusing on significant details concerning new or lost business, pricing adjustments, usage rates, and competitor strategies.
• Collaborate with the Vice President of Sales to set goals and short-term targets aimed at increasing sales volume with each customer, as well as developing and executing sales strategies to achieve these targets profitably.
• Identify, document, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
• Coordinate and conduct joint sales calls with supplier personnel on key customers, with the aim of introducing new products and discussing existing ones to boost sales.
• Regularly monitor and follow up on sales leads from colleagues, trade publications, verbal referrals, and any other sources related to new sales opportunities.
• As needed, advise on pricing levels at accounts and document new price requests. Inform accounts of significant price changes and negotiate to secure and enhance market share.
• Oversee administrative duties related to the role to comply with all company practices, policies, and procedures, including timely submission of variance reports, mileage reports, expense reports, and updates to Monthly Highlights.
• Contribute to the company’s objectives to enhance customer satisfaction, minimize rework, and boost profitability.
• Establish, nurture, and maintain effective relationships with colleagues within the company.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in chemistry) from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 5 or more years of experience in field sales.
• Industry experience is preferred.
