This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Identify Core R&D & Technical Uncertainty: Analyze client transcripts and source materials to uncover authentic technological uncertainties, hypotheses, experiments, unsuccessful approaches, observations, and conclusions—making a clear distinction between fundamental experimental R&D and work that was merely challenging, lengthy, novel, or costly.
• Validate Material Claims Against Source: Meticulously verify every assertion against the original client data. If a claim lacks explicit support from source material, classify it as unsupported rather than attempting to present it convincingly.
• Provide High-Quality Initial Assessments: Create precise and thorough initial technical work as part of the learning and production process, enabling the R&D Tax Manager to review instead of creating from the ground up.
• Participate in & Lead Technical Interviews: Join technical client interviews with our R&D Tax Manager—starting by observing how robust R&D activities are recognized, and then advancing to lead discussions with engineers, CTOs, and technical leaders.
• Formulate Material Follow-Up Questions: Develop the five most valuable follow-up questions for each case that significantly enhance the technical position and address critical evidence gaps.
• Analyze Source Material Using AI: Employ AI to interpret and extract insights from Fathom transcripts and technical documentation rather than manually summarizing line by line.
• Conduct Adversarial AI Self-Testing: Cultivate a daily routine of using AI to scrutinize your own work prior to submission—prompting AI to function as a skeptical government tax auditor, challenging your conclusions, revealing weaknesses, and exploring alternative interpretations.
• Drive Continuous Workflow Optimization: Consistently propose improved prompts, technical interview questions, internal QA workflows, and quality-control processes as you gain knowledge.
• 3–5+ years of experience as a scientist, engineer, or technical professional with relevant industry experience in engineering, software development, product development, testing, validation, or failure investigation.
• Experimental Thinking: Profound understanding of hypotheses, technical uncertainty, testing methodologies, iteration, failure modes, and systematic learning.
• Technical Judgment: Capability to differentiate true experimentation from work that was merely hard, slow, new, or expensive.
• Critical Technical Skepticism: A disciplined approach to verifying claims against source evidence and rejecting unsupported assertions.
• Ownership: Ability to advance work independently without constant follow-up while actively seeking system enhancements.
• Clear Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English skills, with the capacity to break down complex technical concepts and articulate reasoning clearly.
• Highly Desirable: Adequate software-development literacy to comprehend technical limitations, failed architectural strategies, testing frameworks, and code logic.
• Daily, practical experience utilizing Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools for intricate technical analysis and structured data extraction (beyond merely drafting emails).
• Prior experience collaborating with businesses in Australia, the UK, or the US.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Cursor, automation tools, or lightweight application development.
• Experience in developing/refining advanced prompt frameworks, AI workflows, or automated review processes.
• Background or familiarity with the Australian R&D Tax Incentive framework (specifically the legal definitions of Core and Supporting R&D activities).
