Technical Product Owner, HRS SF424

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the HRS SF424 product team by conducting requirements analysis, validating mappings, preparing workbooks, tracking project status, validating releases, and facilitating cross-functional communication.

• Develop a thorough understanding of SF-424 forms, Grants.gov, federal grant management, HRS Grants workflows, form engines, schemas, validation rules, attachments, and agency-specific behaviors.

• Construct and verify SF424 requirements workbooks utilizing instructions, schemas, HRS Grants logic, field-level rules, and product priorities.

• Evaluate form definitions, versions, display and required rules, validation rules, list values, help text, repeatable sections, attachments, and budget logic.

• Examine generated workbooks, scorecards, mappings, and inferencing outputs to pinpoint gaps, incorrect assumptions, rule discrepancies, and missing requirements.

• Convert vague input into detailed requirements, assumptions, questions, decisions, and follow-up actions.

• Validate connections among Grants.gov fields, XML/XSD schemas, HRS Grants data, configurations, source-system behaviors, and expected outcomes.

• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and QA teams on forms, schemas, integrations, data models, rules, attachments, and submission workflows.

• Prepare materials for engineering handoffs and assist with QA, post-build validation, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect triage, regression coverage, and acceptance processes.

• Investigate potential future-state SF424 workflows and opportunities for AI-assisted integration and automation.

• Create prototypes, conceptual workflows, data-flow sketches, prompts, test cases, proof-of-concept artifacts, and experimental designs.

• Work alongside Product Management, the Product Owner, Engineering, QA, and Services to synchronize decisions, dependencies, obstacles, ownership, and delivery timelines.

• Maintain records in Azure DevOps in accordance with Huron’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.

• Document repositories, analysis methods, workbook procedures, validation criteria, handoffs, known issues, and review patterns.

• Develop templates, checklists, review guides, traceability notes, and process documentation.

• Identify areas for process enhancement and provide backup support for product, requirements, validation, and release activities.

• Measure success through enhanced workbook quality, engineering readiness, validation throughput, documentation, continuity, and alignment with Grants.gov and HRS workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. work authorization is mandatory.

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a business, scientific, analytical, or technology-related field is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in roles such as Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Product Owner, Implementation Consultant, Quality Analyst, or similar positions supporting complex software products or cross-functional software delivery teams.

• Experience in research administration, grants management, federal grant applications, compliance-driven programs, higher education, healthcare, academic medicine, or other complex regulated domains is preferred.

• Ability to acquire a working knowledge of SF-424 forms, federal grant application packages, proposal workflows, budgets, subawards, attachments, and Grants.gov system-to-system submissions.

• Proficient in documenting requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, validation notes, decision logs, questions, assumptions, and stakeholder summaries.

• Capable of translating ambiguous or technical input into structured analysis and requirements ready for engineering.

• Experience with backlog refinement, bug triage, requirements validation, release readiness, UAT, implementation support, or similar delivery activities.

• Skillful in comparing source materials, generated outputs, system behaviors, stakeholder feedback, and test results.

• Familiarity with enterprise software, SaaS products, forms engines, rules engines, data mappings, integrations, APIs, XML or JSON, schemas, data flows, configurations, attachments, error handling, and release validation.

• Ability to interpret technical artifacts such as mapping files, schema definitions, architecture diagrams, repositories, generated outputs, and test results.

• Comfortable using Azure DevOps, GitHub or source repositories, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, and internal tools.

• Proficient in using AI-assisted tools like ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot while validating outputs.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong facilitation, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and follow-through abilities.

• Capable of working independently, managing competing priorities, adapting quickly, and structuring ambiguous tasks.

• Ability to collaborate across various time zones with distributed teams, including those in the U.S. and India.

• Preferred: 3+ years of relevant experience.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Huron Research Suite, Huron Click, InfoEd, Cayuse, Kuali, COEUS, or similar solutions.

• Preferred: Direct experience with SF-424, Grants.gov Workspace, API, XML/XSD, WSDL, mTLS, hashing, attachment-handling, or related integrations.

• Preferred: Experience with research administration, proposal development, sponsored projects, awards, budgets, subawards, compliance forms, or institutional approvals.

• Preferred: Experience creating requirements workbooks, traceability matrices, mapping documents, validation catalogs, scorecards, test cases, or release-readiness artifacts.

• Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio or Lucid, SharePoint, Teams, Salesforce, and related tools.
