This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Take on single-threaded leadership (STL): Act as the accountable product leader for the transaction rail, ensuring alignment, prioritization, and execution across all teams involved in the payment lifecycle.
• Consider the entire value chain: Comprehend and enhance the handoffs between domains — understanding how a routing decision in Payment Orchestration impacts approval rates, how the Transaction Core's state machine informs Money Operations' reconciliation, and how Risk, Trust & Vault govern every authorization.
• Propel agentic strategy: Articulate the “what” and “why” for platform features aimed at streamlining client onboarding to achieve low-to-no coding effort, encompassing provider certification to routing rules.
• Safeguard the stability floor: Instill a “Stop the Line” mentality focused on quality, upholding a Stability Floor of highly automated quality assurance throughout each domain in the rail.
• Provide cross-functional leadership: Lead a high-ownership collection of pods comprised of elite engineers across five domains, collaborating with Staff Engineers and the CTO Office to break down silos.
• Foster a YBIYRI culture: Promote and implement the YBIYRI mindset across all five domains, ensuring teams design for multi-tenancy, elastic scaling, and automated observability.
• Prioritize with data: Utilize the RICE framework to transform ambiguous, cross-domain requirements into a cohesive, structured, executable roadmap that balances architectural integrity with market opportunities.
• Strong technical foundation: In-depth knowledge of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, APIs, event-driven platforms, and contemporary software engineering practices (Cloud-native/Serverless, Kotlin/Go, gRPC/REST).
• Experience with Platform-as-a-Product: Demonstrated history of developing foundational platform capabilities or intricate distributed systems across multiple interdependent domains — preferably in payments routing, transaction processing, settlement, or fraud/risk systems.
• Mastery of execution: Proven track record of driving delivery velocity across a broad surface area, unblocking engineering teams, managing dependencies across various domains, and optimizing DORA metrics.
• The “Maker” mindset: Preference for clean, modular architecture rather than monolithic shortcuts, especially when coordinating multiple interlocking domains.
• Commercial acumen: Capability to articulate technical trade-offs (e.g., tech debt vs. feature velocity, approval rate vs. cost) to executive stakeholders and translate growth objectives into technical specifications.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with the domain: Practical knowledge of payment provider integration patterns, smart routing/retry logic, transaction state machines, settlement/reconciliation, and PCI-scoped fraud and vaulting systems.
