This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and take ownership of the product strategy for Smile’s Core CDR platform components, which include data ingestion pipelines, data quality (such as master data management and enrichment), the persistence layer, and administrative capabilities.
• Work alongside technical teams to conduct comprehensive technical analyses that identify gaps between product offerings and market/client requirements, especially regarding interoperability, performance, scalability, and compliance with standards.
• Convert architectural frameworks and operational necessities into precise, actionable product requirements.
• Engage in architecture and code review discussions to assess the feasibility, scalability, and maintainability of proposed solutions.
• Maintain a strong technical grasp of the technology stack (Java, HAPI FHIR, Kubernetes, Postgres, Kafka, etc.) to evaluate trade-offs and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Advocate for product capabilities related to data quality, deduplication, enrichment, and lifecycle management across ingestion and persistence workflows.
• Assist in backlog refinement and oversee delivery by providing technical context, architectural insights, and prioritization guidance throughout the implementation process.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions to ensure that product features are technically feasible, secure, and aligned with agile methodology and long-term platform objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to ensure the precise execution of the product roadmap.
• Aid cross-functional teams and leaders in crafting product communication materials such as presentations, articles, white papers, sales strategies, training, and both internal and external demonstrations.
• Conduct competitive research to benchmark and identify unique features for specific platform capabilities.
• Promote product features to both internal cross-functional teams and external clients, leading customer discussions and attending or presenting at pertinent events.
• Guide customer discussions and solutioning sessions as necessary to validate technical direction and clarify platform capabilities.
• Facilitate the success of Smile’s product teams by ensuring that platform capabilities are well documented, versioned, and easily consumable.
• Act as a technical resource to unblock delivery teams, balancing client needs with architectural and operational considerations.
• Responsible for ensuring that all working hours are accurately logged in Netsuite daily or weekly, ensuring that the majority of hours are tracked as billable, and that the project management tool in Netsuite is used properly and completely.
• Tracking and reporting billable hours is a crucial aspect of project management and delivery to our customers, representing a major area of accountability.
• Adhere to privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.
• Maintain all confidential information in trust and strict confidentiality, ensuring it is used solely for fulfilling employment obligations and not disclosed to third parties. Breaches of policy or misuse of information may lead to disciplinary action, including potential termination of employment.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Technical Product Management, Software Engineering, or Platform Product Ownership role, or a related technical position in software product development.
• A post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics with a strong technical emphasis, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering complex software products or platforms, preferably in healthcare or enterprise settings.
• Comprehensive understanding of FHIR, FHIR / HAPI FHIR and RESTful API standards, data integration, ETL, data persistence patterns, authentication and authorization frameworks (such as OAuth2, OIDC, SAML), and healthcare interoperability (including FHIR, HL7 v2, CDA, etc.) and terminology standards (LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10).
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes, software release cycles, and the software development lifecycle.
• Proven ability to review architecture/design proposals, convert use cases into technical requirements, and steer implementation discussions.
• Capability to read, write, and reason through code to understand architecture proposals, review pull requests, or validate technical decisions.
• Demonstrated consultative experience, including facilitating meetings and communications with executive-level clients, prospects, and partners.
• Experience collaborating with engineering and architecture teams in cloud-native environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform).
• Strong critical thinking skills coupled with a creative, solution-oriented mindset.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with effective time management and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems or data platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with observability, logging, and system administration tools is preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare data platforms or interoperability systems is an asset.
