Technical Lead, Sustainability Services – Regenerative Agriculture, Climate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Partner with clients in the food, land, and agriculture (FLAG) sector to pinpoint decarbonization and regenerative agriculture prospects.

• Ensure compliance with GHG calculation methodologies and applicable standards.

• Offer technical guidance to clients on GHG mitigation and agricultural issues.

• Monitor the developments and status of the GHG Protocol, SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard, and SAI Platform.

• Assist the Associate Director of Sustainability Services (Regenerative Agriculture and Climate).

• Lead or assist in client interactions, deliver presentations on updates or deliverables, and conduct research to address client inquiries.

• Oversee and manage client technical advisory requests related to carbon accounting, decarbonization strategies, and climate standards.

• Create client-facing PowerPoint presentations, reports, memoranda, and other communication materials.

• Accomplish tasks in a dynamic, self-driven environment.

• Perform desk research on corporate climate mitigation, nature, or leadership standards in regenerative agriculture.

• Aid in new business outreach, proposal creation, and work planning.

• Conduct basic to intermediate calculations utilizing greenhouse gas and economic activity data.

• Collaborate with small teams to produce high-quality deliverables and offer guidance and leadership.

• May oversee two or more junior staff on projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.

• At least 6 years of pertinent experience is required.

• Experience in managing technical aspects of greenhouse gas accounting in the agricultural sector.

• Field or research experience with soil organic carbon (SOC) and land use change models, as well as greenhouse gas profiles and mitigation strategies for agricultural commodities.

• In-depth understanding of climate mitigation strategies within the agricultural sector.

• Extensive technical knowledge of climate standards, including the GHG Protocol Corporate Suite of Standards and SBTi.

• Experience in client relationship management.

• Strong focus on customer/client service.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to articulate complex issues clearly in both speech and writing.

• Familiarity or experience in preparing submissions or reports against corporate sustainability leadership standards.

• Experience in developing or assessing Life-cycle assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).

• Knowledge of corporate supply chain management or procurement.

• Proficiency in data analysis software and Excel at a basic to intermediate level.

• Fluent in English.

• Willingness to travel both internationally and domestically.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Candidates must reside in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, or Wisconsin.

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

• Familiarity with commodity-specific guidance and best practices in agricultural value chains is advantageous.

• Proficiency in another language is a plus.
