This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the recognized technical authority at SI for steam turbine and generator engineering, asset life evaluation, and integrity consulting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers specializing in steam turbine generators, promoting technical growth, teamwork, and long-term capability enhancement.
• Direct strategic consulting projects that assist clients in extending asset lifespan, enhancing reliability, addressing complex failures, and making well-informed, risk-based decisions.
• Offer technical guidance for advanced engineering assessments related to fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal and stress analysis, and finite element methods.
• Influence the quality and technical reliability of client deliverables, proposals, reports, and recommendations.
• Cultivate trusted relationships with clients, identify opportunities for growth, and help expand SI’s footprint in the steam turbine generator sector.
• Collaborate on proposal strategies, scope formulation, and project planning to ensure SI's ongoing success.
• Work alongside engineering, nondestructive examination, materials, and business development teams to provide integrated solutions for clients.
• Represent SI in interactions with clients and at industry events, conferences, and user groups to enhance market visibility and technical reputation.
• Contribute to shaping the future of the practice through planning, process enhancements, and the development of unique consulting capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; an advanced degree is advantageous.
• PE registration in one or more states is highly regarded.
• Extensive experience in steam turbine generator engineering, rotating machinery, or power generation asset integrity.
• Proficiency in one or more specialties: life assessment, fitness-for-service, root cause failure analysis, fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue, thermal or stress analysis, or finite element analysis.
• Proven success in leading technical projects, developing teams, and managing multidisciplinary engineering initiatives.
• Strong client-facing consulting abilities with the skill to articulate complex technical issues clearly and credibly.
• Experience in supporting proposals, scope development, and business development efforts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with expertise in standard engineering and business software applications.
