This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Co-lead the initiatives at JED to develop and refresh technical assistance programs for schools and communities in partnership with program collaborators.

• Create protocols and resources aimed at supporting the development and updates of JED’s primary programs.

• Work alongside the Senior Director, Knowledge & Review, and other team members to remain updated on the best available evidence.

• Provide support, guidance, and oversight to staff within this vertical in refining program design elements, evaluation frameworks, and measurement tools.

• Establish, implement, and maintain continuous quality feedback mechanisms to ensure fidelity in program implementation.

• Identify opportunities to leverage data to promote equitable implementation of JED’s programs.

• Create processes and lead initiatives to enhance data literacy at JED.

• Supervise and provide guidance on the development of survey and assessment tools.

• Collaborate with JED’s partners at the Healthy Minds Study to utilize these data effectively.

• Advise the team’s scientists on optimal practices for survey and measurement design.

• Manage daily operations related to JED’s Institutional Review Board approvals.

• Conduct and guide the design and development of research studies evaluating the impact of JED’s programs.

• Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation team to advise staff on proper analyses using suitable statistical methods.

• Lead and mentor a team of scientists.

• Oversee daily management and decision-making regarding Institutional Review Board protocols.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Ph.D. in behavioral sciences (such as psychology, sociology, human development, or related fields), education, public health, or an equivalent degree is necessary.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in conducting research and/or designing and evaluating programs aligned with JED’s interests, including mental health, suicide, adversity, injury prevention, positive youth development, or help-seeking.

• Demonstrated experience in synthesizing and applying research to inform program design, measurement, implementation, and evaluation, including the development of research-data-practice feedback loops for ongoing program quality enhancement.

• Strong comprehension of rigorous research evaluation methodologies, along with foundational program evaluation framework development and execution in the behavioral sciences.

• Experience in developing and selecting survey content and measurement tools based on existing scientific literature, including assessing developmental appropriateness.

• Exceptional quantitative research skills, encompassing the design of research studies, selection of appropriate analytic methods for research questions, and data analysis. This includes proficiency with statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, or Python.

• A proven history of publishing scientific findings and disseminating and translating data across various platforms, including academic journal articles, written and oral communications, policy briefings, and toolkits or tip sheets for both professionals and general audiences.

• Comprehensive understanding of data protection regulations and ethical standards, along with experience in developing, updating, and interpreting Institutional Review Board protocols.

• Capability to translate data into programmatic impacts and data-driven recommendations for scientific, programmatic, funder, and other audiences, including improving equity in outcomes through data usage.

• Experience in a leadership position, including staff mentorship and supervision or leading a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of scientists.

• Experience in overseeing and supporting research partnerships with academic institutions or research organizations to further scientific objectives.

• Outstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the aptitude to present complex data clearly and concisely.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with program staff, funders, partners, and other stakeholders.
