Technical Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Gather and organize business requirements and system documentation in JIRA/Confluence, including user stories, API design, and API enhancements.

• Create user stories in JIRA that are suitable for estimation by developers, incorporating acceptance criteria.

• Develop RESTful web APIs for both new and existing products in an API-first approach, following the strategic direction set by the technical architect.

• Collaborate with engineering team members and business stakeholders to:

• Design RESTful web APIs.

• Create Data Models.

• Develop event-driven processes within distributed systems (microservices).

• Define contracts for messaging and web services, primarily utilizing JSON Schema and Open API Specification (Swagger).

• Validate and verify APIs by crafting requests and asserting responses using Postman.

• Document processes and data models, mainly using BPMN.

• Establish acceptance test scenarios in a Domain-Specific Language (DSL) such as Gherkin and generate test data sets.

• Assist product owners and QA teams during acceptance testing.

• Engage in agile team ceremonies.

• Produce customer-facing documentation.

• Coach and mentor junior analysts.

• Provide support to data engineers responsible for onboarding customers and data onto the platform.

• Proficient understanding of REST and its application to web APIs, with the ability to utilize tools like Postman and Insomnia.

• Knowledge of HTTP headers, authentication, authorization, and response codes.

• Strong commitment to agile and lean development methodologies.

• Commercial experience as a technical business analyst across various customers and projects.

• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Capable of translating business requirements to engineers and explaining complex concepts to non-technical individuals.

• Experience in writing user stories for agile development teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in documenting processes using standards such as BPMN and UML.

• Familiarity with event-driven workflows.

• Comfortable working with source code management (Git) to handle API specifications.

• Proficient in using a web API testing tool such as Postman, including the creation of authentication tokens.
