• Collaborate closely with both the Tech and Art departments to ensure effective communication and mutual understanding.
• Lead the Research and Development efforts alongside other Technical Artists, focusing on technical art aspects of assigned projects, while seeking improvements in Art pipelines and elevating the artistic quality standards.
• Work actively with all departments to guarantee that the overall project performance meets targets, while maintaining the established visual quality benchmarks as much as possible.
• Develop shaders using node-based tools such as Unreal’s Material Editor and Unity’s Shader Graph.
• Generate any necessary support meshes, textures, and masks required during the shader creation process.
• Assist the Art team with visual scripting (e.g., Unreal’s Blueprints) to facilitate basic functionalities for various art assets.
• Frequently test game builds on the target platform to ensure that what is visible in the Engine accurately reflects the final build.
• Aid Art department leads in ensuring adherence to established pipelines throughout the development process by artists.
• Actively seek out opportunities to identify and resolve potential issues before they emerge.
• Fully embrace and contribute to the established artistic vision of the game, ensuring it is realized in its entirety.
• Mentor less experienced Technical Artists, helping them develop their skills.
• A minimum of 2.5 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the Games Industry, including at least one released game.
• In-depth knowledge of the Unreal game engine.
• Adequate familiarity with tools such as 3D Studio Max or Maya, and Photoshop.
• Ability to determine when to create quick prototypes, when to prioritize time over quality, and when to refine details.
• A passion for collaboration and working within a team environment.
• Openness to providing and receiving direction, along with the capability to adapt to change.
• A love for playing and creating games, with a vision for enhancing game experiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
